A Bridge to Nowhere

At one time this bridge crossed the Adyar River just before it flowed into the Bay of Bengal. According to a local, it fell apart about 20 years ago and never repaired. When I asked, he simply replied, "politics." Now the bridge is a favorite hangout for the college age crowd.

:) May be world's only bridge which is not a bridge. Chennai never fails to throw surprises.

A very unique bridge. How do people over there across through that bridge? Maybe there are lack of fund to do that bridge, because it is not finished. LOL :)

From what I understand, the bridge was intact at one time. Lack of funds to repair it could likely be one reason why it remains in this state. If it were fixed, the young'uns wouldn't have a place to hang out (or smooch).
